Understanding Mole Activity

A sudden cluster of molehills does not necessarily mean that several moles are present. A single animal can create an extensive tunnel network while searching for food and maintaining its territory.

New molehills often contain loose, fresh soil, while older activity may become flattened or weathered. Moles can also create raised surface tunnels, particularly where the soil is soft or food is close to ground level.

Why Molehills Keep Appearing

Flattening a molehill only removes the visible soil. It does not address the tunnel below, and the mole may continue digging elsewhere in the same area.

Activity may also return if another mole later occupies an established tunnel system. For this reason, it is important to monitor the site after control and respond to any fresh signs promptly.
