Signs You May Have Rats or Mice

Rodents are often active at night and may remain hidden for some time. You may hear scratching or movement inside walls, ceilings or loft spaces, particularly when the property is quiet. Droppings may appear in cupboards, kitchens, garages or outbuildings, while gnaw marks can sometimes be found on food packaging, timber, pipes or electrical cables.

Other signs can include greasy marks along walls or skirting boards, shredded paper or insulation being used as nesting material, burrows around sheds or boundary areas and unusual smells in enclosed spaces. Pets may also become unusually focused on a particular cupboard, wall or section of flooring.

Finding one sign does not always reveal the full extent of the problem. A professional inspection can help establish whether rats or mice are present, where they are travelling and which areas need to be treated.
